General Manger Post: Grade D

The General Manager (GM) is a Senior Management Position reporting to the Executive Director (ED). Prone Cane Investments invites applications from qualified people interested in the vacancy that has arisen within its system. This is a 2 year contract renewable based on perfomance. Prone Cane Investments P/L is a company which is into various investment portfolios. The company pr ides i tsel f in green innovat ions which have seen i t growing i ts market share at unprecedented leve ls. It has developed a reputable profile in safety, health and environmental quality (SHEQ) consultancy services under Envirotech Institute of Management with a special thrust on Envirotechnologies used in environmental management amongst its portfolios in Zimbabwe and beyond. The GM will chiefly nurture Envirotech Institute of Management to achieve its objectives as a strategic business unit of Prone Cane Investments. The GM will be mainly stationed in Harare.


Roles and Responsibilities

·         Lead the business operations team and effectively manage all strategic operational processes within the organisation.

·         Fundraising and guiding operations in order to achieve and maintain operational excellence.

·         Handle a mix of administrative duties and strategic responsibilities

·         Lead multiple large cross-functional teams and communicate with senior management to facilitate projects and ensure performance meets goals consistently

·         Provide strong leadership to team including developing and monitoring individual and team performance goals, coaching officers and driving major change initiatives

·         Manage the production calendars and ensure all on-going deliverables are met and executed within agreed upon Service Level Agreements

·         Ensures projects are completed within committed time and budget and are integrated with other business and related projects

·         Play key role in identification of bottlenecks in the existing processes and lead process innovation initiatives



·         Monitor and manage escalations; conduct appropriate trend analysis as needed and devise strategies or process improvements to reduce them to almost zero level

·         Report to leadership team in weekly operations reviews

·         Design and lead initiatives and programs focused on achieving best results and improving customer and employee satisfaction

·         Develops and implements communication and reporting mechanisms to manage issues, risks and timely delivery of initiative results


Desired Candidate Profile

·         Applied Sciences background plus MBA with 2 to 5 years of experience in service industry

·         Background in business thought leadership, as well as particular knowledge in the areas of leadership, organizational culture, change management, and managing people.

·         Experience of managing large teams Excellent oral, written, cross functional and interpersonal communication skills

·         Excellent people manager, open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done

·         Must have handled planning, scheduling and budgeting duties, including conducting meetings, coordinating budgets, meeting publication deadlines

·         Strong business acumen, with proven ability to leverage knowledge base to quickly come up to speed in new business areas and new types of projects

·         Possesses a thorough knowledge of the interdependencies among service operations business units and matrix partners.

·         Excellent problem solving skills

·         Demonstrated ability to drive results required.

·         Expert Customer Relationship Skills

·         Proven ability to multitask

·         Experience working in a fast-paced environment

·         Highly intrapreneurial

·         At least a clean Class 4 Driver’s Licence
